Penarrubia Lounge
A trendy meeting place right in front of Alimos Beach, and a municipality on the south side of Athens, Penarrubia Lounge really is the place to be. It is perfect for a coffee break, tasting a Mediterranean lunch, or enjoying a late-night cocktail while listening to loud music. Penarrubia Lounge has modern decor, a wonderful garden, and a relaxed atmosphere.
Getting to Penarrubia Lounge is easy as Alimos is well connected with Athens’ city center. You can take the metro line 2 to Syngrou–Fix and then hop on one of the many buses that stop nearby the beach. By car, Penarrubia Lounge is only a 15-minute drive for Athens.

Just past popular Kalamki Beach on Akti Ilios beach is a row of beach bars and restaurants that is probably the most popular place to be at the beach in Athens in Summer.
Collectively known as ‘Blu’ by the locals the beach includes Bolivar, arguably the largest and most popular beach club in Athens, as well as Macaw Beach Bar, Akanthus Summer Club and Nalu restaurant, all worth a visit in our opinion.
Bolivar Beach Bar
Bolivar Beach Bar is one of the best places to party in Athens! Designed to look like an exotic island with palm trees and huts made of straw and wood, Bolivar Beach Bar offers excellent service and a relaxing atmosphere. This beach club has a private pool, sun loungers, and parasols for rental.
Bolivar Beach Bar is ideal for enjoying coffee, a beachfront meal, or a cocktail at sunset. When the sun goes down, Bolivar Beach Bar turns into a dancefloor hosting well-known local and international DJ sets and live concerts.
It is easily accessible by car or public transport as it is located right on the tram stop “Kalamaki”. The bar offers free parking for its clientele.

Another great beachside bar in Alimos to check out is Macaw Beach Bar, which has a fabulous exotic island aesthetic.
At Macaw Beach Bar, you will find impeccable service and tasty Mediterranean cuisine and cocktails. Stop by for a morning coffee, a delicious lunch, or sipping a cocktail at sunset or night while listening to the music that is always on.
Located in Akti Tou Iliou beach, getting to Macaw Beach Bar is pretty straightforward: drive for 15 minutes from Athens city center, or get off at the tram stop “Kalamaki” or to one of the several bus stops along the beach.

Akanthus Summer Club
One of Athens’s hottest summer entertainment spots, Akanthus Summer Club is the ultimate location if you want to have fun. Located in Alimos seaside area, Akanthus Summer Club is the ideal hangout spot for a relaxing day at the beach.
At night, the club becomes the perfect location to party hard! Neon lights, fantastic cocktails, and pop and electronic music to dance the night away are what you will find at Akanthus Summer Club. There is even a bar within a basketball half-court!
If you are not into DJ sets, visit the club on Thursdays, the day of the week dedicated to live concerts by well-known artists from the international scene.

Open only from the beginning of May to the end of September. Usually, the nightclub is open from Wednesday to Sunday: make sure to check the updated opening hours at the beginning of the summer season.

Bikini Beach Bar

This upbeat bar is particularly frequented at night thanks to the fantastic live concerts and DJ sets that make everyone dance on the wooden dance floor by the bar. Lohan Seaside
A premium beach ‘all-day’ club located in the heart of the Athenian Riviera. The club is owned by the famous American celebrity, Lindsay Lohan.
Lohan Seaside has everything you can imagine: a bar, a restaurant, a nightclub, and a private beach with sunbeds available only for the establishment’s clientele.
The on-site restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and you can enjoy your meal in the lush garden, alongside the heated pool, or on the beach.

Astir beach/40Forty Day Night Bar
Located on Astir Beach in the upmarket neighborhood of Vouliagmeni and is one of the best beaches on the Riviera, with fun amenities to rent for a daily fee.
There are many sunbeds and cabanas to rent and you can dine at 40Forty Day Night Bar which is one of Athens’ hubs for social meetings during the summer. The location is well-suited for hosting theme parties, business cocktails, and other special events like weddings. Pop-up booths sponsored by brands like Dior and Gucci are common in Summer.
What makes Astir Beach particularly special is there are ancient ruins of the Temple of Apollo Zoster right behind it. You can add a bit of history to your beach experience!
At Astir Beach, you will find also find another private upscale beach club called Privilege Beach House. This space is well known for its superb facilities and high-end design.

Yabanaki Beach is the biggest sandy beach in Athens, about 30 minutes from the city center. Easily accessible by car, taxi, and bus, Yabanaki Beach is fully equipped with the best amenities. Stylish sun loungers and parasols, an on-site pool with a bar, and countless cafes and restaurants just meters away, make Yabanaki Beach one of the best spots to relax and have fun.
The Varkiza Resort is one of the most popular summer hangouts in all of Athens, and it is located right on Yabanaki Beach. Varkiza Resort is a massive establishment with several bars and restaurants inside and sports stores offering windsurfing, water skiing, and banana boating experiences. Book a room and stay a few days – it’s only 15 minutes from the airport!
To enter the beach, you will need to pay an entrance fee until 8:00 pm, and it is free to enter later at night to enjoy the bars and restaurants inside the Varkiza Resort Yabanaki.

Yabanaki Beach is accessible all day, but the sports hire facilities are open from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm. It is a summer destination and most of the facilities are closed in winter.
Holy Spirit Beach Bar
Another great hangout spot in Yabanaki Beach is Holy Spirit Beach Bar. This beach bar is popular for its gorgeous location, luxurious cabanas, and extra-large cocktails.
With music playing all day long, the Holy Spirit Beach Bar is the ideal venue to visit if you are looking to have a fun day at the beach. The feel-good tunes animate the crowd well into the night. Each summer evening has a theme (rock, pop, reggae): the Holy Spirit Beach Bar throws great beach parties!
The best way to get to Holy Spirit Beach Bar is by car. If you don’t want to drive for 40 minutes, you can opt for public transport. The bus ride will last over 1 hour, and you will need to change the bus line to Yabanaki Beach.
