EPIRUS

Nestled between towering mountains and the sparkling Ionian Sea, Epirus is a land of untouched beauty and ancient mystery.

This lesser-known region in northwestern Greece offers an irresistible blend of rugged landscapes, traditional villages, and a rich history that dates back to the time of the Molossian kings.

While the beaches of the Greek islands might get the most attention, Epirus also rewards the curious traveller with forested gorges, serene lakes, and some of the country’s most scenic mountain towns.

Hikers will fall in love with the legendary Vikos Gorge, said to be the deepest canyon in the world. At the same time, culture lovers can wander the cobblestone streets of Ioannina, a lakeside city with a fascinating Ottoman past.

Epirus is also a gastronomic paradise, known for hearty pies, mountain cheeses, and its unique take on Greek hospitality.

Whether exploring the ruins of ancient Dodona, the sacred oracle of Zeus or enjoying a quiet retreat in the traditional stone villages of Zagori, Epirus invites you to slow down and embrace a side of Greece few have experienced.
