Despite the pandemic savvy operators have taken the time to open a number of new hotels in Athens and other parts of Greece as well. Most are located in the best neighbourhoods for visitors and offer style, convenience and often great views and amenities. After a challenging few years it’s great to see these properties open and take on the over-saturated market of Airbnb’s and Vrbo’s with their famous Greek hospitality, world-renowned service focus, and amazing inclusions!

ATHENS FLAIR
Location: Kolonaki

Athens Flair is located in the leafy, upmarket suburb of Kolonaki, right at the base of Mount Lycabettus and around the corner from the famous Bookstore Politeia.
It is a 10-minute walk to Syntagma Square and 20 to The Acropolis. Panepistimio Metro Station is just 2 blocks.
The Hotel is a heritage-protected former mansion that was once home to one of Greece’s most renowned actresses, Ellie Lambeti.
There are just 6 suites and a roof garden with sweeping views of the city, and one suite has 2 bedrooms.
The decor combines contemporary aesthetics with the original elements of the beautiful neo-classical building and includes a magnificent marble staircase, delicate ceiling embellishments, and parquetry floors.
ALTAR
Location: Monastiraki

This stunning boutique hotel is located right next to the Ancient Agora (market) in the middle of the ancient center.
Named after the Altar of the Twelve Gods the hotel has sweeping views over the Acropolis and several of the other ancient landmarks in the capital.
The hotel has 16 rooms and suites and some have generous balconies and acropolis or city views. There is also a huge penthouse with a massive terrace and panoramic views.
The aesthetic is light and fresh with a neutral palette and organic materials used throughout.
Monastiraki metro station and square, the Flea Market, and some of Athens’s best tavernas and restaurants are right outside. Wak to everything or use the bike hire service to explore even further afield.
PAME WILD
Location: Exarchia
Opened: July 2022
Located right next to the beautiful Pedion Areos, one of the largest public parks in Athens, and around the corner from the National Archaeological Museum Pame Wild is on the edge of the ancient center and a fair way from the tourists center of Plaka but has a more local feel.
It’s a pleasant (and very interesting) 40-minute walk to the Acropolis although the Biktoria Metro Station is just 5 minutes away.
In Greek ‘Pame’ means ‘lets go’ and Pame Wild is the 5th hotel in Greece by Pame House Group. The hotel has 23 modern rooms ranging from superior doubles to a Penthouse with terrace. There is also a 2bedroom suite that sleeps 4.
As you can expect the interiors have a tropical vibe and reflect the ‘Wild’ moniker.
The Exarchia neighbourhood is an edgy emerging area with lots of places that play live greek music (rembetiko) and jazz bars. It has a village feel with lots of inexpensive tavernas and alternative shops.
NIKIOU SUITES
Location: Syntagma

Located in a small street right on the border of Syntagma, Monastraki and Psyri, Nikiou Suites offer spacious luxury accommodation only minutes from all the highlights of Athens.
Nikiou Suites are in a beautifully restored Neoclassical Athenian house built in 1860 and have been designed for lovers of style and luxury with parquetry floors and marble throughout. Some suites have doors opening onto large terraces, some even have plunge pools.
Within meters you can be on Ermou shopping street, in Syntagma Square – where you can see the Evzones, walking the streets of Plaka or enjoying the nightlife in Psyri. The popular small bars of Noel and The Clumsies are just 2 minutes walk.

THE DILAN (rebranded as Cohort in August 2022)

The Dilan is a boutique aparthotel and a stylish renovation of a 1930s house right in the heart of the Ancient Centre.
Located just 300 meters from the Acropolis Museum and the Main entry to The Acropolis the area is full of great tavernas, cafes and galleries as well
Offering studio rooms and suites as well as a bunk room that sleeps 4, and a balcony apartment with a full kitchen including an oven and coffee machine.
The decor is stylish industrial with concrete benches and muted pastels blending seamlessly together. This hotel is very well priced and great value for families in particular who could book a studio and the bunk room for extra space and comfort.
PALEO SUITES
Location: Syntagma

Located right between Ermou shopping streets and Syntagma Square this hotel has 6 luxury king suites and is located in a beautifully restored neo-classical building from the 1920s.
It is a 5-minute walk to Syntagma Square and the Metro Station and 20 minutes to The Acropolis. You couldn’t ask for a more central location.
The rooms are spacious, very clean and beautifully appointed with every amenity. Three of them are fully self-contained with kitchens and washing machines and the penthouse suites have private terraces and hot tubs.
Each room is supplied with beautiful Korres bathroom products, Nespresso machines and speedy wifi.
GATSBY
Location: Syntagma
Opened: August 2021
It would hard to be in a more central location in Athens that at Gatsby.
This rather extraordinary hotel opened with much fanfare in late 2021 and has already wowed many happy customers with its playful design and exceptional service.
Located just 200 meters from Ermou, the main pedestrian shopping street of Athens, it is also only 300 meters to Syntagma Square.
There are 33 rooms, ranging from small studios to a roomy suite with a private balcony and an outdoor jacuzzi.
The decor is quirky and theatrical from the Reception festooned in flowers and right through the rooms which include lots of uber-cool items like bespoke toiletries and an artisan minibar.
Gatsby has an all-day restaurant and bar as well as Cloud 9 Rooftop Bar. There is also a Boxing Ring and a Personal Trainer that can be booked too.
This hotel is especially popular with couples – all the coolest ones of course.
BROWN SPICES
Location: Psyri
Opened: March 2022
Located in the vibrant neighbourhood of Pysri Brown Spices, a member of Brown Hotels, is right next to the Central Market and just 500 m from Monastiraki Flea Market, 500 m from the National Theatre of Greece and a 10-minute walk to The Acropolis.
Rooms are small but luxe with dark moody tones, soft lighting and soothing colourways. Some have atrium views with lots of natural light. A Continental Breakfast is included in most tariffs.
Brown Spices is surrounded by some of the best bars and tavernas in Athens including the iconic Karamanlidika Taverna and Μπριζολάδικο ΤΕΛΗΣ Steakhouse.
This is a very affordable addition to Psyri and a great spot to stay if you want to be close to the nightlife and Athens’s liveliest precinct.
Brown Spices is part of the Brown Hotel Collection, an Israeli company with 12 hotels in Greece, six of which are in Athens. With more properties in development, the group expects to have 17 hotels in or near Athens by 2023.
The Athens properties are all new, in or around the emerging hip inner city neighborhoods of Psyri and Omonia (which has recently had a multi-million dollar makeover), and are all very good value for money.

The paint is still drying on this fantastic addition to the Athenian Riviera with O2 Suites offering a new luxury alternative for visitors seeking a beach stay while in Athens.
It is located just meters from the sparkling Aegean Sea and the popular serviced beach of Glyfada with sunloungers, umbrellas and water activities available for hire. The area has a variety of shops, restaurants, cafes, and bars as well.

The Port Square Hotels is centrally located at the heart of Piraeus, Athens largest ferry port ( and the biggest Port in Europe) right across the road from the port and only 20 meters from the train and metro station.
This is a game changer for Piraeus which to date has only had a few basic hotels on offer for travellers.
