Staying in a converted Windmill in Greece is one of the most unique and memorable things you can do, and there is no better place to do it than Milos.

A converted Fishermans Hut
On Milos you will find the very pretty and quite unique fishing huts called Syrma, They are built right on the water and are usually designed so the Fisherman can sleep upstairs and store his boat and fishing gear below.
Some are still in use by the local Fishermen but some have been converted into great little apartments to rent.
This is something you can really only do on Milos and is a fantastic way to experience life as a local fisherman as well as having great access to the sea for swimming and usually an excellent Taverna nearby too.

A Byzantine mansion and country estate
The Kinsterna Hotel is located in Agios Stephanos, 7 kilometres south-west of Monemvasia in the southern Peloponnese.
Parts of the property date back to 1667 and it was built and occupied by a number of wealthy families over the centuries.

Stay in a castle in an island fortress
Monemvasia is known as the ‘island fortress’ and is one of the most incredible destinations in Greece. It’s actually connected to the Mainland by a 200 meter long causeway but was once an important trading post and home to hundreds of Villagers who fortified themselves from invading forces beneath the towering rock.
Today people still live and work on Monemvasia but many businesses are now geared towards tourism. Wandering the narrow alleys of the town is like stepping back in time and staying in a restored Castle is how to really absorb the bygone era.
