How to get there

You can reach Naxos either by ferry or by plane, depending on your preference and starting point.

Milos

Where is Milos?

Milos is in the Cyclades Islands. It is north of Santorini and west of Paros and Naxos. The closest islands to it, and those that are the best combination, are Kimolos and Sifnos, although Folegandros can be a good choice too.

How to get there

Milos can be reached by either air travel or ferry. It has a small domestic island which services flights from Athens.

Milos is part of the western Cyclades so it is well connected with the other islands on that ferry trajectory, such as Santorini, Sifnos, and Kithnos. 

It is also connected by ferry to the islands in the eastern Cyclades, such as Paros and Naxos, and often the ferry that does that route is the smallest of the fleet.

Samos

Where is Samos?

Situated just 10 nautical miles southeast of the island of Ikaria, Samos is in the middle of the  Northern Aegean islands, which include Lesvos and Chios, both very close to the coastline of Turkiye.

From the mainland, it is about 330 miles east of Athens and some 600 miles south of Thessaloniki.

How to get there

Samos does have a small international airport and, in summer, flights are available from various European destinations, such as Milan, Prague, and Munich, but particularly Amsterdam.

Samos is also serviced from Athens by  Aegean Airlines/Olympic Air with a limited schedule year-round and between May and October. There is also a Sky Express flight that connects with Chios in the northern Aegean and Kos and Rhodes in the south.

Alternatively, you can choose to take the ferry to the island from Athens or from a neighbouring island.

There are two ports – Samos Town, which connects with Chios and other towns in Samos and Karlovasi, which is busier.

Skiathos

Where is Skiathos?

Skiathos is fairly easy to get to having both a small international airport and a bustling marine port. There are daily flights from the UK and many european cities between April and October and year round flights to Athens.

Ferries connect year round with the other Sporades islands of Skopelos, Alonissos and Skyros as well as Volos on the Mainland. During the tourist season there are also ferries between Thessaloniki in the north and the mainland ports of Mantoudi and Agios Konstantinos in the southern mainland.
