When to visit Sivota
Greece has a Mediterranean climate, meaning long, warm summers and mild winters, which makes it a popular destination for tourists throughout the year.
The tourist season starts in May when temperatures start to rise and the average temperature for this time of year is approximately 18°C/64F.
Once summer begins in June, the average temperature rises to around 25°C/77F in July and August, with highs of 35°C/95F or more.
This is a great time of year to visit if you like warm weather and lazing on the beach, but this is also the busiest (and most expensive) time of year to visit Sivota. That said the crowds as are significantly less than neighbouring Parga and it remains a very tranquil place even on the busiest weekends.
In September, the temperatures start to drop again, with average highs of 26°C/79F . It’s still a nice time of year to visit, even when the tourist season wraps up at the end of September although things like Boat Hire may not be available. The sea temperature is still warm at this time of year, too, usually well into October.
Where is Sivota?
Sivota is located on the northwest coast of mainland Greece, in the Epirus region. It sits across the sea from the popular island of Corfu, with which it shares the same stunning turquoise waters.
Sivota is a short drive from the towns of Parga and Igoumenitsa, making it an ideal base for exploring the Ionian coastline. Surrounded by lush green hills and boasting a scenic harbour, the town offers breathtaking views of small islets scattered offshore.
Because of its peaceful vibe, Sivota is perfect for those looking to avoid the crowds found on more tourist-heavy Greek islands, while still enjoying postcard-perfect beaches and authentic Greek hospitality.
What makes Sivota so wonderful?
One of the defining characteristics of Sivota Greece is its unique landscape, where green forests roll down to meet the azure waters. Its coves and beaches are legendary for their beauty, often compared to those of the Caribbean, and each beach has its own charm—some with fine sand, others with smooth pebbles or rocky cliffs.
Sivota also caters to every type of traveller. Whether you’re a fan of outdoor activities like sailing, hiking, or snorkelling, or you prefer sipping a glass of ouzo at a waterfront taverna, there is something here for everyone.
The town has also managed to retain its traditional Greek charm while offering modern amenities, making it a hidden gem that feels both authentic and accessible.

Sivota offers a range of accommodation options, from luxury hotels to family-run guesthouses. Many properties are located close to the beaches or the town centre, ensuring easy access to all the attractions. Here are our recommended places to stay:
- Luxury Stay: Domotel Agios Nikolaos offers stunning sea views, a private beach, and elegant rooms although it is a long walk into town. A bit closer is beautiful Karvouno Villas which accommodation 5-9 people in each villa, and there is an excellent seafront restuarant and function room.
- Mid-Range Option: Sivota Diamond Spa Resort is a nice retreat at the back of the town with excellent facilities, including a pool and wellness centre. We had a wonderful stay at Sivota Deamaris Boutique Hotel – the rooms have amazing sunset views over the water, they put on a great breakfast and there’s even a little bar and food truck down in an olive grove on their private beach. So nice!
